Il faut se rendre à l’évidence que la décennie 80 est une des périodes qui a le mieux réussi au hard rock, tout s’est définie pendant ces années et Drive At Night nous y replonge avec leur album Echos From An Era.

Drive At Night c’est tout d’abord deux compères, Joachim Nordlund et Johan Lindstedt.

Deux musiciens qui ont officié du côté d’Astral Doors et Sunstrike. Tous deux passionnés du hard rock mélodique des années 80, ils décident de travailler ensemble sur un projet qui sera totalement dédié à cette période. Composant 12 chansons en 2021 qui viennent tout juste de sortir.

Et autant le dire tout de suite, chaque note de ce Echoes Of An Era est une ode à cette période où on portait la coupe à mulet sans aucun complexe et où les gros riffs abondaient de part et d’autre.

Et on y plonge à pieds joints avec le titre d’ouverture est évocateur, The 80’s Calling pose les bases pour notre plus grand plaisir.

Les autres titres sont de la même trempe, Drive At Night sert du hard rock mélodique style années 80 avec la touche de modernité nécessaire pour ne pas tomber dans le cliché. 

Mais ne nous y trompons pas, Drive At Night nous sort un premier album bien frais qui ne manque pas de charme nostalgique.

It’s obvious that the 80’s is one of the most successful periods for hard rock, everything was defined during these years and Drive At Night brings us back to it with their album Echos From An Era.

Drive At Night is first and foremost two companions, Joachim Nordlund and Johan Lindstedt. Two musicians who played with Astral Doors and Sunstrike.

Both passionate about the melodic hard rock of the 80s, they decided to work together on a project that would be totally dedicated to this period. Composing 12 songs in 2021 which have just been released.

And I might as well say it right away, every note of this Echoes Of An Era is an ode to this period where the mullet was worn without any complex and where big riffs abounded on all sides.

And we dive in with both feet with the opening track is evocative, The 80’s Calling lays the foundations for our greatest pleasure.

The other tracks are in the same vein, Drive At Night serves up melodic 80s style hard rock with the necessary touch of modernity to avoid falling into cliché.

But let’s not be mistaken, Drive At Night is a fresh first album that doesn’t lack nostalgic charm.
